Supervising senior instructor: Tom Johnson, godan
Coordinator: Michael Baczynski,

ZKR Jodo is the modern derivative of the classical koryu art of Shinto Muso Ryu Jodo. It is comprised of 12 core kata and associated supportive exercises designed to teach the essence of the art. It was created by SMR Jodo menkyo kaiden, and last acknowledged Head Master of SMR Jodo, Shimizu Takaji. It came about as a post World War II consensus by the All Japan Kendo Association (Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei) for preserving and promoting Jodo as a practice.

ZKR Jodo’s premise, as with its ancient ancestor, is the use of the 127 cm long quarterstaff against the Japanese longsword (katana). Exercises are done both solo and in pairs.

We are currently establishing regular classes for Jodo, and are working in conjunction with Tom Johnson sensei’s Kohokai dojo at Pine Mountain.
