Remember that Jujutsu is shifting back to Tuesday

A brief reminder that starting this week, we will be shifting Jujutsu training to Tuesday nights (usual 6 pm start). Additionally, we will be adding a regular Iaido class straight afterwards (from 7.40 pm) running parallel to Systema and Jodo.

We are continuing our work preparing for shinsa in December across Kendo, Iaido and Jujutsu, and would strongly encourage you to come to as many sessions as you can.

Mats up for school contractor clean

Holy Name Catholic Primary School has scheduled its pre-term clean of the MEAC for Wednesday this week. As a result we will have to put away the tatami tomorrow night (Tuesday). This will align with the new arrangements to shift the Jujutsu class to a Tuesday night on an as-needed basis so that we are maximising the benefit of using the MEAC for multiple disciplines.

I am aware that there are few people available for training, but it would be most appreciated if we could get one or two of you in for 6 pm to assist me. I shall be there from around 5 pm to do a small audit of the Club’s first aid kit and equipment, and if we have some interest in a Jujutsu class, we can run one before we pack things away.

Iaido and Kendo training opportunity this Saturday

Just a quick note to remind the Toowoomba-based iaidoka that this Saturday we will be travelling to Brisbane to train for the day with practitioners from across South East Queensland at the Kenshinkai, Mt Gravatt.

Leading training will be Toshi Tsukadaira sensei, and it will be the first opportunity for Club members to be instructed by Dave Kolb sensei since he successfully challenged for his 6Dan. Yaguchi sensei 6Dan renshi), who is currently visiting the Tsukadairas, has confirmed that she will also be teaching, and both Stewie Owens and Klara Langtry will be up for the day from New South Wales. So it promises to be an excellent day for polishing one's kata and catching up with friends!

I will be confirming today with Isaacs sensei, but we may well also go down early and get a kendo session in before iaido. We are not sure yet whether this means being there for an 8 am start, or we just get a short sharp 1 hour from 8.30–9.30 am. Hopefully I can confirm at training this afternoon.

This will mean that there will be no Saturday training at the MEAC for jujutsu as we will still be on our way back from Brisbane at that time.
